Tasty Thursday


Tis the Season of Strawberries! YUM! I got my hands on this new issue of THE BETTER HOMES AND GARDENS To bring you this Recipe! If you like peanut butter and jelly you will like this! The bars taste like a peanut butter cookie bar and topped with strawberry jam and fresh strawberries, well lets say its a tasty treat!

FRESH STRAWBERRY BARS
3/4 Cup Butter, softened
3/4 cup peanut butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/4cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup strawberry jam
4 cups whole strawberries cut up

1. Heat oven to 350 Line the bottom of a 9x13x2 inch baking pan with foil, extending the foil beyond edges. Set aside.

2.In a Large mixing bowl beat butter and peanut butter on medium high for 30 sec. Beat in sugars, baking powder and salt until combined. Add Eggs and vanilla; beat until combined. Beat in as much flour as you can with mixer. Stir in remaining flour.

3. Spread dough in prepared pan. Bake 25 min. or until top is lightly browned and toothpick inserted near center comes out clean.

4. Cool completely on rack. Remove from pan by lifting foil. Spread jam and top with berries. Cut into bars and serve at once. Or refrigerate for up to 6 hrs. makes 24 bars.

Wow that a lot of strawberries! Here a small packet of strawberry (I really mean small!) costs us nearly MYR10 and I can imagine to make that scrumptious recipe we'll need to buy at least 10 packets! But it really looks so yummy!
